Another Year

Today is the day my sweetest boy turns 2! I have no idea how it has been two years, I remember last year thinking that 2 seemed so old and I couldn't even imagine him being 2.  I couldn't imagine him talking and running and having favorite things.

I have no clue how this was two years ago, I remember this day still so vividly as if it were yesterday!

It is hard to remember him so tiny though but there are moments when he will look a certain way and it brings me right back to that sweet newborn.

L...you have grown in to such a sweet boy, I love that you love to give me huge hugs that you squeeze so very tight and don't want to let go, you don't have to, I will let you squeeze as long as you want.  You have become so independent recently it makes me a little sad because it means your growing up but also so proud of the things your learning to do.  When I watch you at the park or today at the children's museum you are so confident and not shy at all you are quick to befriend others and I hope you always stay that way.  You like to be a part of the crowd and the center of attention!  Big trucks and chocolate milk are your all time favorite things.  You bring us so much joy and I could never imagine loving a little person as much as I love you.  I cant wait to see you evolve into your new big brother role this fall, I think you will do great and be a sweet big brother to this little sibling thats soon to come. We love you so so very much and can't wait to see what another year brings

Two years in comparison:

Family Photos

I know I shared our sweet video last week but I am just in love with the photographs that Allison with Lentille Photography took.  She is so talented and really was a dream to work with.  She was so patient with L which was so important to me and despite him acting like the toddler he is we got some incredible shots!

I just wanted to share a few of my favorites... ok maybe more than a few...

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cake

I had heard over and over again how amazing Nothing Bundt Cakes was and not long ago we made a stop and got a sample pack to try.  It certainly did not disappoint but I was not loving the price tag!

I had to bring dessert to our small group a few weeks ago and knew I wanted to bring some kind of bundt cake as I have a bundt pan that is so pretty and presentable I love to use it.

I scoured the internet for a chocolate chip bundt cake recipe and came across this one that was a Nothing Bundt Cakes Chocolate Chocolate Chip replica.  It was amazing and just as moist and perfect as the original!

I found the recipe at Favorite Family Recipes, it was super easy which is a must for me and like I said was delicious!!

Ingredients:

  • 1 pkg. devils food cake, German chocolate cake, or chocolate cake mix
  • 1 pkg. instant chocolate pudding
  • 1 c. sour cream
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 1/2 c. oil
  • 1 1/2 c. mini chocolate chips
  • 2 (8 ounce) pkgs. cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 c. butter, softened
  • 3-4 c. powdered sugar
  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract
Directions:

1.   Mix first six ingredients together with a beater. Add chocolate chips. Pour into a greased bunt cake pan (cooking spray works best). Cook in oven at 350 degrees for 45-50 mins. Remove from oven. Let cool for 20 mins. Remove from pan. (I think it tastes best if you put it on a serving plate, wrap it well in Saran Wrap, and let it sit overnight in the fridge before frosting and serving..)

2.   In a medium bowl, cream together the cream cheese and butter until creamy. Mix in the vanilla, then gradually stir in the powdered sugar (start with 2 cups then keep adding more until it is nice and thick). That's it!

The icing made so much I actually halved the icing part and still had a TON left over, and this cake was so good that it would be good on its own without the icing if you wanted!  I also did not let mine sit overnight I made it and took it straight to small group and it was so good being that it was still warm!

A Sweet Surprise

We met with Allison from Lentille Photography yesterday and she put together this video that I adore and will cherish forever.  She was incredible to work with and so patient with L!!

I'm Katie a 27 year old mommy and wife. Welcome to my blog where I will chronicle the happenings of my life as I find the balance between being both SAHM by day and CVICU nurse by night.

I love Jesus and strive to be more like Christ every day. Running, reading, and cooking are some of my favorite past-times. I love photography but I am no pro, but it helps I have such a cute subject to practice on!!
